Position Summary
The Jig Bore Operator (SIP) is responsible for specializing in operating the Jig Bore, used to make/maintain jigs, fixtures and gages that are used in the assembly of our final product.
Primary Responsibilities
· Plan/perform difficult jig boring operations which require complicated setups with a high degree of accuracy.
· Determine proper feeds, speeds, tooling, be able to hold tolerance and operation sequence or select those prescribed in drawings, blueprints or layouts using a variety of precision measuring instruments.
· Communicate with supervisors, bench hands and other shop personnel to help resolve issues.
· Perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.
· Load parts either manually or with a crane/hoist.
Education and Experience
· High School Diploma or equivalent.
· Extensive knowledge of machine shop practice, usually acquired through considerable on-the-job training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· General knowledge of the gaging/automotive industry
· Ability to read blueprints.
· Ability to understand G codes.
· Knowledge of the SIP machine
· Knowledge of running/operating manual lathe and mills
· Ability to program and setup.
· Basic math/shop math skills
· High degree of mechanical aptitude
· Ability to work with limited direction from a manager.
· Understanding of individual contribution to the product conformity and product safety.
· The importance of ethical behavior.

· May be asked to lift up to 50 pounds.
· Long periods of standing
· Ability to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time, walking, twisting and stoop during a full scheduled shift.
