Targeted Compensation: $80,566 - $100,398 per year

Location and Hours: Remote in Albuquerque, NM area, 30 to 40 hours per week.

Job Description: Attorney
Charter School Law Group is seeking an enthusiastic, independent, and self-motivated attorney to join our team. This remote position offers flexibility, requiring 30 to 40 hours of work per week to support our charter school clients across New Mexico and Colorado. Key Qualifications:
1. Licensure: Active law license in New Mexico required.
2. Experience: Prior experience in education law and charter schools in New Mexico is preferred. However, a strong desire and willingness to learn are essential.
3. Skills: Exceptional honesty, superior writing skills, keen attention to detail, and a proactive approach to learning.
Responsibilities: Provide legal support to charter schools in areas including, but not limited to:
1. Contract law
2. Complex real estate and public finance transactions
3. Commercial leases tailored to charter schools
4. Employment law
5. Special education and student discipline
6. Charter contract issues
7. Tax matters for nonprofit entities
8. Upholding parental rights and choice in education
9. General research
Work Hours & Billing:
1. The position requires 30 to 40 hours per week during "Prime Work Hours" (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. MT, Monday through Friday), with occasional work outside these hours.
2. The attorney's exact work schedule is flexible but negotiable, with an expectation to bill between 1,200 to 1,600 hours annually. The precise billing target is adjustable and may increase over time.
3. Two-thirds of work hours should be during Prime Work Hours and should be free from non-work related distractions.
Location: The Firm prefers to hire an Attorney located in the Albuquerque area; however, the Attorney will be able to work primarily from their home. The Attorney must be able to travel by a self-driven automobile throughout New Mexico as needed with some occasionally travel to Colorado.
