Status: Full-Time. Non-Exempt
Compensation: Up to $24/hr., plus annual bonus potential.
Pentex Restaurant Group (PRG) is now hiring a Human Resources Assistant to join our TEAM. PRG operates over 45 Taco John's locations in eight states (ND, SD, MN, MO, IL, WI, IA, and MT) with nearly 1,200 employees (and growing). We are the leading franchisee of Taco John’s restaurants, and we own and operate 2 HuHot Mongolian Grill restaurants.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Human Resources (HR) Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will support the HR department in various administrative tasks and ensure the smooth running of daily operations. Responsible for assisting will all things HR including accurate employee records, job postings, payroll, HRIS data, and other HR documentation. This position reports to the HR Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with day-to-day operations of the HR functions and duties.
- Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
- Process benefit (health, dental, vision, 401k, etc.) enrollment and orientation materials for new hires and educate employees on available benefit options.
- Prepares and manages COBRA notices and elections.
- Keep up to date with employment laws, latest HR trends, and best practices.
- Assist the recruitment process by posting job ads, maintaining applicant tracking system, and checking references when needed.
- Answers frequently asked questions from employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes; referring the complex questions to HR Manager.
- Completes administrative tasks for onboarding including data entry in human resources information systems (HRIS), PayCor.
- Assists with various internal/external audits for accuracy and compliance.
- Processing of employment terminations, including closing out employee files, determining final compensation, and notifying appropriate agencies.
- Provides information for unemployment benefit eligibility determination, etc. using the PeopleSystems platform.
- Primary contact for employees with work related injuries, tracking outcomes, and recording annual OSHA reports.
- Assist with employee leaves, to include FMLA and personal leaves.
- Verifies employee income and employment status when requested.
- Prepare several business and HR related reports.
- Participates in staff meetings and attends other meetings or seminars as requested or needed.
- Administer exit interviews, collect data, and report findings.
- I-9 audits; ensuring compliance, monitoring, and updating I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification documentation.
- Process documentation and assist the HR department with clerical support.
- Assist HR department with performance management and payroll processes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Associates degree in Human Resources, Business Admin, or related field preferred.
- Proven experience as an HR Assistant or relevant human resources/administrative position.
- Knowledge of HRIS software systems. (PayCor a plus!)
- Familiarity with talent acquisition processes and applicant tracking systems (ATS).
Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and integrity.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office; Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS (PayCor).

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for prolonged periods of time and talk and hear.
