General Summary: Seattle Pacific University is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team. Job duties include, as its key responsibilities:
- Contribute to monthly close processes by preparing journal entries, cost allocations, analyzing financial information, and importing data.

Coordinate with various University departments on month-end activities and ad hoc requests.

Prepare monthly account reconciliations and resolve reconciling differences.

Assist Accounts Payable by processing ACH transactions, initiating wire transfers, and managing other data transmissions with the bank.

Support treasury operations by managing incoming cash, checks, and electronic deposits.

Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.

Prepare supporting documents and payment requests for employee benefits, grants, miscellaneous receivables, and taxes.

Provide work direction to student workers.

Prepare schedules for and support year-end annual audits.

Develop and maintain documented procedures and internal controls.

Participate in cross-organizational and functional teams aimed at improving and streamlining processes.
Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or a closely related field.

Experience: One year or more of accounting experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, audits, and internal controls.

Inquisitive and curious with a demonstrated interest in professional and personal learning and development.

Organized with the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.

Proficient in accounting software and intermediate Excel skills.

Ability to use and adapt to an enterprise-quality ERP system, query tools, and cloud-based accounting and reporting tools.?

Preferred qualifications:
- Licensure/Certification: CPA licensure candidates are welcomed.

Interest in participating in an ERP and/or cloud-based tool implementations.
Additional Information:
After an initial training period a hybrid schedule may be utilized in conjunction with department schdule. The employee must reside in the state of Washington.
Position will remain open until filled.
Annual compensation: $58,000 - $63,000 DOE, $27.89 to $30.28 per hour
This is a full time position with excellent benefits. SPU pays the employee premium for medical, dental, and vision insurance. SPU makes generous contributions to an employee HSA account and a 7% contribution to a retirement account, for eligible employees, with immediate vesting in the plan. Tuition discount program (50% - 90%) available for the employee and qualified immediate family members.
