Primary Job Responsibilities
- Support the mission and design principles of The Gathering Place (TGP).
- Embody and follow The Gathering Place Collective norms.
- Work with an assigned caseload of children. Classrooms may be self-contained or departmentalized for portions of the day.
- Run a self-contained classroom of roughly 26 students working with kids in Kindergarten through 6th grade.
- Follow all school protocols and systems, including breakfast, snack, lunch, arrival, and dismissal.
- Follow the lesson plans provided to them by the teacher they are substituting.
- Enforce the student norms for the classroom to ensure all children are meeting campus expectations.
- Provide additional support in classrooms during the planning periods for the teacher they are substituting.
- Support the social-emotional, behavioral, and academic growth of students.
- Adapt teaching methods, lessons, and materials to meet each student's needs.
- Create a classroom environment that is safe, well-maintained, and reflects the TGP model.
- Implement TGP school norms, behavior structures and expectations, behavior management systems, and restorative practices.
- Follow Individual Education Programs (IEPs).
- Follow existing 504 plans.
- Follow existing Behavior Support Plans (BSPs).
- Embrace a culture of feedback to continue developing skills that support children's learning and development.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers, members of the TGP Collective, school leaders, and district staff.
- Establish and maintain healthy working relationships with students and families.
- Participate in daily functions of the schools, including but not limited to arrival and dismissal duties, lunch duties, recess monitoring, and coverage.
- Meet professional obligations, including timeliness and consistency in meeting deadlines, among all other policies outlined in the Employee Handbook.

- High School diploma or equivalent
Additional Detail
- This is a temporary, 10-month, non-exempt position that may not report to work on a daily basis.
- This role has a duty-free lunch.
- This role may be asked to perform additional responsibilities related to the ongoing needs of the school throughout the year.
- The workday is 7:15 - 4:00 pm. Some evening events will be required, like exhibitions of learning (showcases) or school events.
- Arrive on time and stay for their full shift each day.
- This role requires schedule flexibility and may be given notice on the day of to provide substitution.
