Job Title: Head Coach
Job Summary:
The Boston University Club Baseball team is searching for a new head coach for the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 seasons. Particularly, we are looking for a coach with a high baseball IQ that can make objective decisions in regard to both roster management and in-game adjustments and substitutions. Strong candidates should prioritize fostering a culture that balances both competitiveness and enjoyment.
Duties:
- Create lineups for games and manage positional and pitching substitutions
- Serve as third base coach during our at-bats
- Hit infield/outfield before games and during practice
- Run organized practices with a clear plan of drills and game-related situations
- Actively communicate with the team’s Executive Board on any team-related matters
Time Commitment: Part-time position
Fall Season: Begins in early September and continues through the last weekend of October/first weekend of November
Spring Season: Practices begin in February with most games occurring during the month of April
Spring Break: In the event of a spring break trip, our team plays 3-4 games during our university's spring break recess, which is usually the 2nd week of March
Practices: 2-3 practices during the week (typically from 7-9 PM or 8-10 PM)
Games:
- 1-3 games during scheduled weekends
- Must be willing to travel either with team or provide own transportation to games
- Games are against other NCBA college teams in the Greater New England area
About BU Club Baseball:
For many decades now, our club team has served as the premiere organization for BU students of all baseball experience levels to continue playing baseball in college. Our roster usually consists of 25-35 players, each with varying experience and commitment to the sport. We value the social aspect of the team, but winning makes everything more gratifying.
We compete in the National Club Baseball Association (NCBA) as a Division II team. Our current division includes Merrimack, UMass Lowell, Holy Cross, Maine, and Rhode Island.
