Licensed Professional Counselor Position Description
Responsible for providing behavioral health services through individual and group counseling, ensuring referral and tracking of these services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides screening, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment to individuals, families, or groups while assuring that a comprehensive service plan is developed and that it meets individual patient needs. This comprehensive plan will include brief, problem-focused therapy that assist patient in self-management skills.
2. Assures that documentation of all encounters, including screening, individual, family and group counseling sessions are completed after each visit. Assure appropriate coding and billing of all patient encounters.
3. Responsible for functioning at or above the 90 percentile in productivity and providing excellent clinical outcomes based on their patient’s panel. Ensure adequate clinician coverage within the clinics during operating hours.
4. Provide quality control of the behavioral health department including compliance with accreditation standards. Provides exceptional clinical care based on patient satisfaction scores, clinical outcome measures and chart audits. Ensure 100% participation in department chart audits.
5. Assures that Behavioral Health clients are assisted through the use of the Center’s established referral system for in-house services, and to appropriate community agencies, while also providing consultation to provider staff to assure proper interdepartmental support. This will entail full integration with all Behavioral Health Services staff and other providers throughout the Center’s primary care departments and clinic sites.
6. Document all outcome measures for the BH program. This includes but is not limited to the Patient Health Questionnaire-9, the Vanderbilt ADHD Scale and other outcome measures implemented in the course of practice and appropriate to demonstrate patient BH status.
7. Attends and actively participates in all departmental meetings and in Center activities in order to pursue the mission and vision of the Center.
8. Provides excellent internal/external customer service via telephone, fax or face-to-face contact to assist patients with their health care needs and represent the Center in any outside communication or activities.
9. Establishes and maintains a working relationship with community-based agencies in the best interest of the patient or the Center. 10. Performs other related duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- A master's in counseling or a counseling-related field from an accredited college or university.
- Licensed to practice in the State of Texas. Thorough knowledge of parenting issues, communication skills, family dynamics, brief and focused psychotherapeutic interventions such as cognitive behavioral, problems based counseling
- Ability to work well with all staff, community, and volunteers
- Ability to plan and organize work with minimal supervision Knowledge of and sensitivity to cultural diversity
- Valid Driver’s License in the State of Texas
- Preferred bilingual in English and Spanish Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), American Heart Association
- 2 years of Experience as a Counselor Scheduled hours and/or work locations are subject to change

- Masters or better in Counseling Psychology.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
