Job Title: Lead Transmission Specialist

Project Location: Providence, Rhode Island (flexible working – option to work from home) – travel expected to New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts
Type: Monday – Friday, 40 hrs per week
Are you looking to play a part in the US’ advance into the offshore wind industry? Our client has a requirement for a Lead Transmission Specialist to join them on a contract role, playing a role in the delivery of offshore wind power capacity to the New York, Rhode Island and Connecticut grids. These roles are open to all US residents, but additional sponsorship cannot be provided.
Responsibilities:
· Responsible for HV system integration, operational supervision and electrical safety rules (HV/MV/LV)
· Responsible for electrical issues accordingly to US legislation and regulation
· Delegating scopes of works for the whole team of Transmission Specialist on sites both offshore and onshore work scopes
· Responsible for and managing rotaplans for all Transmission Specialist and Operators on site
· Leading all improvements of instructions and site-specific instructions improvements related to High Voltage electrical operations on sites
· Implementation of the Company Electrical Safety Rules on site, including the safe system of work
· Advise operationally on high voltage electrical installations to WTG, offshore substations and both HV submarine and onshore cables
· Oversee safe commissioning of grid connections, onshore substations and associated MV/HV/LV plant and equipment
· Oversee all MV/HV/LV electrical operational activities to ensure safety, security and integrity of the HV network
· Contribute to proactive management, good coordination and communication between all parties and that the process works effectively
· Coordinate MV/HV/LV commissioning activities through the project construction stages
· Advise operationally on high voltage electrical installations to WTG, offshore substations and both HV submarine and onshore cables
· Oversee all MV/HV/LV electrical operational activities to ensure safety, security and integrity of the HV network
· Oversee and the delegation of planning of all switching activities on sites, both offshore and onshore activities
· Controlling the safety documents for the Electrical Safety Rules on site
· Define safety procedures for electrical matters
· Delegation of tasks to the Operators on sites, who oversee safe commissioning of grid connections, onshore substations and associated MV/HV/LV plant and equipment
· Reviewing the high voltage scope of work
· Knowledge and experience with US specific standards
Tasks:
· Ensure compliancy with and managing of Company Electrical Safety Rules
· Safety coordination in electrical matters
· Coordinate with the Lead Commissioning Project Manager to ensure that accurate updates are distributed to the Project Management
· Manage and coordinate HV/MV/LV commissioning activities
· Coordinate with National Grid and attend commissioning panel meetings
· Act as "senior authorized person"
· Outage management and network control in collaboration with the Authorized Operators
· Prepare and check high voltage switching schedules
· Update MV/HV/LV schematic diagrams
· Inspect work sites and perform site safety inspections and auditing for electrical matters
· Check method statements for electrical matters
· Implement and provide training programs for relevant staff according to the rules
· Provide technical and engineering advice to working parties for electrical matters
· Assist different departments in Company when required
· Attendance at FAT and SAT tests if required
Deliverables:
· Input to the project commissioning management manual and related documents (including pre-commissioning and commissioning quality plans)
· Participation in different audits
· Reports from FAT & SAT on the different high voltage equipments
· Onsite check of switching programs
· Participation in the planning of resource and work activities
· Participation in authorizations and assessments of new candidates
· Deliver inputs to the design phase of the project on technical aspects
Decision authority / Responsibility:
· Final say in relation to MV/HV switching and isolations
· Issue of Company Electrical Safety Rules safety rules documents
· Organization and management of the Transmission Specialist permit office, including all operational staff
Qualifications / Requirements:
· Appropriate electrical qualification and background related to the authorization scope.
· Several years of operation and commissioning experience within the field of high voltage electricity, offshore experience preferable
· Minimum 3 year of working experience within onshore substations systems
· For this position the candidate needs to be able to pass GWO and medical courses for offshore work (climbing gear person weight limit – 120kg/264lb)
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $55.00 - $70.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
