Summary
The instructor is responsible for implementing an instructional foods program that will establish the development of the students' skills in Culinary Arts with a focus in pastries and desserts. Included in instruction are safety and sanitation, cooking and baking methods and techniques, advanced cooking, identification of tools and ingredients, nutrition and menu development.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement lessons to teach skills required for students to master competencies in culinary art with a focus in pastries and desserts.
- Provide group and individual instruction utilizing effective teaching strategies, aids and equipment
- Evaluate students’ skills and career readiness competencies, and maintain accurate student records
- Responsible for teaching students about culinary terminology, food cuisines and general food knowledge.
- Responsible for teaching students about supplies and equipment used in the culinary arts field.
- Inform students of career opportunities in and related to the field of Culinary Arts.
- Keep abreast of current practices and training methods
- Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records. Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions
- Adhere to IEP’s and differentiated instruction.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (required) or equivalent
- 2+ Years of Teaching Experience (required)
- 2+ Years of Experience and knowledge in culinary arts with focus in pastries and desserts (required)
- Knowledge of industry-standard safety and sanitation practices in a restaurant or food production facility
- Must have ServSafe certification during first year of employment
- Skilled in verbal and written communications
- Knowledge and application of a variety of teaching strategies to engage all learners
- Ability to write lesson plans for individual and group instruction
- Ability to use diverse teaching strategies to meet students’ learning styles, abilities, interest, and cultural backgrounds
- Teaching and food service supervisory experience preferred
- Love and appreciation for the arts and arts education
- Teaching certification (preferred but not required)
Salary and Benefits

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
