Full-Time Floater/Office Assistant Job Description
Abeona House Child Discovery Center is seeking two full-time floaters.

Abeona House Child Discovery Center provides exceptional childcare and early childhood education to children ages six weeks to five years. A non-profit childcare center inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, we serve families in the Greater New Orleans area from diverse backgrounds with joy, equity, and love. We are located in Mid-City, inside First Grace Church at the intersection of Canal and S Norman C. Francis Parkway.We are not affiliated with First Grace.

Professional Behaviors

Employees are expected to make corrective actions once areas of growth are identified during annual evaluations or direction of the administration.
- Work in support of the program and organization and its goals.
Duties to include but not limited to:
- Be able and willing to step into classrooms to assist or cover for teachers as needed
- Substituting for a teacher that is out
- Stepping in classrooms for bathroom breaks, lunch breaks, etc
- Making sure we maintain ratios in all classrooms by stepping in when needed
- Helping teachers transition children to and from the playground
- Supervise individual students who need to get some space from their classrooms
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills
- Willingness to learn about Abeona House and our teaching practices
Hours
- 7:15-3:15 Monday - Friday OR
- 8:30-5:45 Monday - Friday
Compensation:
- The pay for this position is $15 an hour. All teachers are paid on the days school is closed (totaled 26 days in the 2021-2022 school year) As part of the Louisiana Pathways Career Development System, our teachers qualify for scholarships (associates, bachelors, and masters levels) and tax credits. As a Type III licensed child care provider, teachers qualify for free child development workshops provided by Agenda for Children. After 60 days of employment, teachers will be paid their regularly scheduled hours for holiday school closures and will be eligible to enroll in health insurance. Abeona House covers 60% of each employee’s monthly premium and the employee is responsible for paying the remaining 40%.
