12 month exempt position, 8:30 AM-2:30 PM, Full Time
Position Overview: A JCFA instructor must have strong communication and classroom management skills, work well with non-traditional students, and have a passion for supporting all students through earning a high school diploma. JCFA’s blended learning environment provides flexibility and accountability to students to foster taking responsibility for their academic achievements.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
· Using differentiated instruction techniques to increase student success in individualized and small group instruction settings
· Working with students to create and achieve ambitious academic performance goals
· Managing a blended learning environment using a web-based curriculum that is self-paced, student focused, and provides individualized instruction and support which includes, but is not limited to: entering daily class period attendance for all students, reporting missing students immediately, modeling and enforcing all JCFA policies for students, modeling JCFA’s expectations and supporting students in meeting those expectations, recording and reporting student progress and work ethic regularly as required by the CAO, maintaining his/her gradebook daily, utilizing the in-class academic tutor to support the academic growth of all students, and expressing his/her resource and support needs to the CAO regularly
· Accessing and using JCFA’s technology and internet in the appropriate manner, in accordance with JCFA’s policies and state laws, for the benefit of JCFA and JCFA’s students
· Working collaboratively with administration, faculty, and in-class academic tutors to implement and reinforce all components of a consistent school culture
· Meeting weekly to discuss student progress, provide feedback, and refine instructional delivery
· Reviewing data daily/weekly to create and implement targeted embedded remediation for individual students, and /or to increase the student population’s understanding of fundamental principles in a subject area
· Proactively managing students’ behavior according to the school-wide culture, and maintaining a safe, nurturing environment where all students can learn
· Models and enforces all JCFA policies and procedures
· Fielding phone calls from students and their families; proactively engaging parents regularly of student successes and areas of opportunity
· Developing and delivering remediation to prepare students for high-stakes testing
· Establish and maintain community partnerships to offer resources to students as necessary
· Serves as a mentor for designated students
· Attends faculty and staff development meetings set by the CAO and the organization
· Other duties as assigned
Strong candidates for this position will possess:
· Minimum two years demonstrated success teaching in an urban environment in either middle or high school; desired: current 6-12 Louisiana Teacher Certification or participation in a certification program,
· An unwavering commitment to individualized instruction and developing a learning environment that provides each student an opportunity to be successful
· Eagerness to contribute as integral part of a start-up team focused on a holistic delivery of excellent teaching
· Excellent classroom management
· Proficient in the use of technology as a curriculum tool
· Excellent verbal and written communications
· Demonstrated use of data to drive instruction
