Are you an Engineer who enjoys designing? Someone who is skilled in generating aesthetically pleasing design concepts and takes pride in your work? Now is your chance to join our Product Design team, to develop leading-edge lighting products of the future.
i2Systems® is a leading designer and manufacturer of LED lighting systems used in demanding and high reliability applications. The i2Systems team designs and builds advanced lighting modules concentrating on wellness, energy efficiency, and high-quality illumination of North America’s premier spaces. The team joins mechanical, electrical, controls, software, and production engineering disciplines in a highly collaborative environment.
As a Mechanical Product Design Engineer, you will be responsible for integration of mechanical and electrical components, consolidating and packaging optical systems, connectors, wiring, and sensors. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that our lighting solutions meet performance, reliability and cost targets.
:
- Design and develop mechanical components and systems for LED lighting fixtures, including diverse components such as plastic and metal component design, electronic component packaging, integration into housings, and wire harnesses.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including industrial design, electrical engineering, production engineering, and suppliers to translate product system level requirements into viable design solutions.
- Apply mechanical engineering principles to create robust and functional product designs that meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Conduct thorough design analysis and simulations, including stress analysis, tolerance analysis, and optimization, to validate and refine design concepts.
- Collaborate with suppliers and production engineering to ensure seamless integration of design specifications and support the transition from prototype to production.
- Experience with thermal management techniques is a plus.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to lighting products (e.g., UL, ENERGY STAR, DLC) is a plus.
:
- B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering Design.
- 5+ years related engineering design experience.
- Passion for electro-mechanical product design.
- Strong knowledge of materials and fabrication methods for low and high volume.
- Analytical background for successful design (tolerance stack-ups, thermal, cost and mass optimization).
- Ability to present data and design trade-offs to facilitate decision making.
- Strong attention to detail and a passion for delivering high-quality design solutions.
- Experience taking projects from concept to production.
- CAD experience; 3D Modeling (SOLIDWORKS preferred).
