We are seeking a Registered Nurse to work in OBGYN at Aspirus Medford Hospital to join our team!
The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process when assisting with the delivery of primary health care and patient care management in the clinic setting. The R.N. performs a wide variety of patient care activities including documentation within the medical record. The R.N. utilizes nursing skills when assessing and triaging patients and recommending follow-up care. The position requires the ability to make decisions consistent with nursing practice, clinic policies and observance of confidentiality of patient information.
Experience/Qualifications:

Knowledge of patient care standards normally acquired through graduation of an accredited R.N. program.

Two years medical experience preferred.

Possesses an active Wisconsin RN nursing license.

Current BLS certification or obtained within 60 days of hire - All clinical personnel in identified job codes are required to maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) training through independent study, manikin and knowledge testing. An acceptable CPR training program is the Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider course from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross Professional Rescuer Program with AED. ACLS certification desired.

Knowledge of medical practice strongly desired.

Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.

Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations, and procedures to administer patient care.

Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.

Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.

Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing protocols, and responding to correspondence.

Skill in developing and maintaining relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.

Possesses good verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to assess patients in person and over the telephone; make recommendations of care and document.

Ability to maintain quality control standards.

Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

Ability to insert, maintain, and discontinue Foley catheters, converts to leg bags.
-
Ability to administer, maintain, and discontinue I.V. and Hep. Locks including I.V. antibiotics and to perform health history assessments.

Ability to provide detailed phone assessment, documentation, and recommendation skills.

Skill in wound care: Remove staples, sutures, and drains.

Skill in sterile dressing changes, including packings and nasopharyngeal swabs.

Skill in care of central venous access devices (blood draw and flush and dressing changes), Venipuncture and EKG.

Knowledge of use of the crash cart and ability to follow established Code Blue policy.

Annual competencies as required by Aspirus and/or various regulatory agencies based on entity and/or job position.
Hours: Full Time or 0.8 FTE, 64 hours every 2 weeks. Night rotation, hours vary from 3pm-7am.
