Position Description
Construction Records Auditor III:
Audits and conducts final review of construction project records for $50 million or more of construction contract work; verifies contractor compliance with state and federal requirements and trains others. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
Essential Duties:
Construction Records Auditor III:
- Acts as liaison and assists with Federal Highway Administration and departmental reviews of construction records.
- Advises contractors' bookkeepers on record-keeping procedures.
- Assists area engineers by providing direction and technical expertise in resolving contract administration problems.
- Performs and reviews construction records audits and coordinates with area engineers on monthly and final estimates,
change orders, supplemental agreements and work orders
- Performs final review of contracts.
- Prepares related correspondence and reports.
- Represents district or Construction Division at meetings regarding contract administration.
Minimum Qualifications:
Construction Records Auditor III:
Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies.
Experience: 8 years construction record keeping, auditing. (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated part-time equivalent).
Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications
Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

- Establishing plans and setting objectives and goals that support overall business strategy/results; anticipating and
adjusting for problems/roadblocks.
- Analyzing issues, facts, and available information to develop logical solutions; researching inconsistencies of facts
or data; drawing correct inferences from information and making recommendations that support business decisions.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Construction Records Auditor III:
- Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools.
- Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs.
- Standing-prolonged periods of time.
- Repetitive Motion-substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Close Visual Acuity-work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading.
