To strengthen our defenses and ensure the safety of our systems, data, and customers, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Information Security Engineer. This position will report to the Vice President, Technology Solutions.
Role Description:
As an Information Security Engineer at IEL, you will play a pivotal role in building and securing our infrastructure and data. This role will require a broad range of knowledge and expertise across multiple information security domains. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, engineering, and infrastructure to develop and implement robust security solutions, policies, and procedures. Your expertise in information security and program development will be vital in safeguarding our digital assets and infrastructure.
The Information Security Engineer will be responsible for identifying threats and vulnerabilities in the Company’s IT systems and software architecture and preparing against potential threats that could disrupt the Company’s operations. This role is also responsible for testing security systems to monitor and mitigate any threats.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain information security programs, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Design and implement security controls and measures to protect against internal and external threats.
- Collaborate with IT and engineering teams to ensure secure system configurations and infrastructure.
- Monitor, investigate, and respond to security incidents and breaches.
- Provide guidance and support to stakeholders on information security best practices.
- Stay updated on the latest security technologies, trends, and threats to continuously improve our defenses.
- Participate in the development and delivery of security awareness and training programs.
- Perform internal and external vulnerability scanning and phishing tests to verify proper security protocols are being followed.
- Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain security infrastructure software and hardware.
- Install and maintain endpoint software that monitors systems and networks for security breaches and intrusions.
- Plan, develop, implement, and update company’s information security strategy.
- Educate and train staff on information system security best practices.
Skills & Qualifications (Required):
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent experience.
- Five or more years of work experience as an Information Security Engineer or related position, with experience building out security programs or capabilities.
- Proven experience developing, operating, and maintaining security systems, solutions, and controls.
- Extensive knowledge of operating system, network, web applications, and database security.
- Knowledge of security systems including end point protection, content filtering, firewalls, authentication systems, intrusion detection/prevention, and network monitoring.
- In-depth knowledge of security protocols and principles.
- Experience with risk assessment methodologies and tools.
- Proficiency in developing and implementing security controls, policies, and procedures.
- Demonstrated experience with incident response and handling security incidents.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
