Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated R&D Technician to join our team in Austin, Texas. As an R&D Technician, you will play a crucial role in the development and testing of our autonomous surface vessels, contributing to the advancement of innovative solutions for the DoD.
Responsibilities:
- Prototype Development: Collaborate with engineers and researchers to build, modify, and assemble prototype ASVs according to project specifications and requirements.
- Testing and Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive testing and evaluation of ASV prototypes, including performance analysis, troubleshooting, and documentation of results.
- Data Collection and Analysis: Collect and analyze data from field tests and experiments, assisting in the identification of performance trends, potential improvements, and areas for optimization.
- Component Integration: Assist in the integration of sensors, navigation systems, communication devices, and other components into ASV prototypes, ensuring seamless functionality and interoperability.
- Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and repair tasks on ASV prototypes to ensure optimal performance and reliability during testing and demonstration activities.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to established safety protocols and procedures during all phases of prototype development, testing, and deployment, prioritizing the safety of personnel and equipment.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of experimental procedures, test results, equipment configurations, and other relevant information, contributing to the preparation of technical reports and presentations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Proven experience in prototype development, testing, and evaluation, preferably in the maritime or robotics industry.
- Proficiency in the use of tools, equipment, and instrumentation commonly used in R&D laboratories and testing facilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and propose effective solutions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Familiarity with autonomous systems, unmanned vehicles, or marine technology is a plus.
- Must be eligible to obtain security clearance as required by the DoD.
