The Manager of Applications services position is a hands-on role focused on managing all phases of the system development and implementation process, including the analysis, design, development, testing and ongoing support for all Wilen systems and applications. Work with VP of Technology to develop and execute strategic technology plans in support of the business goals. Provide strategic and tactical leadership to the applications development team.
Responsibilities
- Manage technical staff and ensure close team interaction with other areas of the technology team.
- Provide annual and semiannual reviews and ensure staff professional development.
- Build strong partnerships with internal customers to understand business challenges, collaborate on possible solutions, estimate project effort and costs, prioritize against constraints, and manage the service delivery process.
- Manage technical design, development, and implementation of customer and Third-party applications.
- Liaises with business customers, other IT teams, vendors and other internal enterprise teams.
- Identify, propose, and apply new technologies to enhance existing capabilities.
- Participate in the budget planning process as needed, ensuring adherence to annual operating and capital budgets for the division.
- Maintain currency of skills and keep abreast of all technical advances and directions through attendance at seminars, expositions, reading of trade publications, and working with system vendors.
Technical Competencies: Minimum 10 years’ experience in Application Development. Strong Knowledge of web technologies such as ASP.net, HTML/XHTML, CSS, XML, JavaScript and supporting infrastructure. Experience with database systems, data modeling and SQL.
Other Skills and Abilities: 10+ year’s application development experience with extensive data quality assurance, database management, technical operations, and technical and software documentation experience. Minimum of 5 years’ experience leading and/or managing staff. Experience working with high-volume, transactional systems. Able to work well independently and within a team; excellent communications, organization and interpersonal skills. Strong customer focus and user experience minded. Ability to prioritize multiple priorities and tasks. Strong desire and aptitude to master new technologies and integrate them into existing solutions.
Education: Minimum BS in Computer Science (or related discipline) or equivalent work experience. Graduate degree or equivalent experience preferred.
