The University of California, San Diego (UCSD), Department of Pediatrics (http://pediatrics.ucsd.edu), and Rady Children's Hospital of San Diego (http://www.rchsd.org) are committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, fellows, staff, and student body. The Division of Pediatric Nephrology is seeking to recruit pediatric nephrologists or physician-scientists at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor to join a group of 7 faculty members.
Faculty members in the Division of Pediatric Nephrology are currently involved in basic science, clinical and translational research as well as quality improvement initiatives. Our research is currently funded by the National Institutes of Health, charitable Foundations, and the Pharmaceutical Industry. We participate in national collaboratives including NAPRTCS, CKiD, SCOPE, IROC, and PRNC. Division faculty members are actively engaged in the training of UCSD medical students and pediatric residents. Our long-standing ACGME-accredited pediatric nephrology fellowship program currently has 5 fellows including an active med-peds training program. The Comprehensive Kidney Care Center, located at RCHSD, houses the general nephrology, transplant, and dialysis clinics and a five-station pediatric dialysis unit. Activities include shared care for 15-25 chronic hemo- and peritoneal dialysis patients and 10-15 kidney transplant recipients per year, as well as CRRT and apheresis programs.
RCHSD is the only free-standing children's hospital in the San Diego region with 511 beds including a level IV NICU, level I trauma center, cardiac ICU with an active cardiac transplant program, and a bone marrow transplant program. Beyond the main RCHSD campus, we also provide consultative services at the UCSD NICU at Jacobs Medical Center in La Jolla, Sharp Mary Birch, Kaiser- Permanente, and Rady satellite clinics in northern San Diego County and Riverside County. The Division of Nephrology has been consistently ranked in the top 30 in the Nation by the US News and World Report and most recently ranked 13th.
As clinical faculty, the successful candidates will be expected to serve as attendings in the outpatient clinic and on the inpatient Nephrology service. The successful candidates will also be expected to provide high-quality training and teaching, and/or develop clinical research related to one or more of the division-related academic interests.
The appropriate series and appointment will be based on the candidate’s background and experience.
