We are looking for…
Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to work in our Weekend Respite program in the Brooklyn location. Respite is a supplemental service that provides families and other caregivers temporary time of relief giving them the ability to take care of those needs that somehow get pushed to the side. The individuals enjoy in-house (games, arts and crafts, baking, etc.) as well as community activities (movies, bowling, museums, zoos, amusement parks, etc.) The program staff prepares meals according to each individual’s dietary needs and may administer prescribed medications (AMAP certified only staff member). The goal of the program is to provide the individuals with a fun time. Elmy’s Weekend Respite is offered outside the home from Friday to Sunday. It is available on a scheduled and time-limited basis.
Requirements: The ideal candidate will have enthusiasm for working with people with intellectual/developmental disabilities in regards to counseling, training in activities of daily living, behavior management, and community integration as well as posse great teamwork and communication skills.
Experience: Six months of related experience is preferred, but not required
License: New York State Driver’s License (must be in good standing)
Shifts Mandatory for weekend: Friday: 3PM to 11PM; Saturday 8AM to 12AM; Sunday 8AM to 12 PM
