Join the Gene Hufford Agency of American Family Insurance at 2127 Jackson Blvd in Rapid City, South Dakota! It's a great opportunity to join Gene's team of Insurance Professionals. This is my 35th year in business with American Family Insurance and Darla has generously given me advanced notice of her working just part time in 2025 and retiring fully by January of 2026. Sales and service representative candidates must have superb customer service skills. They develop knowledge of the local market, prospect for new business and use consultative selling techniques.
Objective:
The Customer Service Representative provides excellent customer experience for potential and existing customers. Identifies opportunities to cross sell and coordinates with sales specialists for follow-up. Assists the agency owner with attaining agency service goals.
Customer Service
· Provides personalized, professional customer service experiences through building trust and developing strong customer relationships
· Responds to customer inquiries regarding coverages, billing, claims or products by following established agency processes and procedures
· Processes changes to existing accounts and policies
· Serves as a liaison on behalf of the customer between the agency and various business partners
· Assists customers with claims by directing them to the appropriate Claims Department contacts and resources. Follows up to ensure customer needs are addressed.
Agency Operations
· Schedules appointments with existing or prospective customers for agency employees
· Provides personalized, professional customer service experiences through building trust and developing strong
Position Requirements:
· High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational or college education is a plus.
· 5yrs Property and Casualty Insurance experience. Customer service, sales, marketing, prospecting, cold calling, networking, preparing quotes and delivering presentations
·Insurance licenses are required for all employees: Property, Casualty and Life. Exceptions must be arranged in advance.
Work Hours:
- Full time work
- Normally Monday - Friday 8 AM - 5 PM
- Exceptions are made for Corporate business meetings, trade shows, business meeting and occasional evening work with customer Personal Insurance Reviews ( PIRs ).
Compensation & Benefits:
· Base pay to include hourly pay rate of $24 - $28 hour and optional overtime pay
. Generous commission earnings on all products
. Quarterly, bi-annual and annual Bonus

The SALES and SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE is a staff member working for the agency owner (GENE HUFFORD) . GENE HUFFORD is not an employee of American Family Insurance. Gene Hufford has been an Agency Owner since 1989.
Job Type: Full-time, currently employed, recently employed individual with a minimum of 5 years experience: Multiline Insurance sales and service of Property and Casualty, Business / Commercial and Life Insurance products.
Pay: per hour Min - Negotiable with experience, licensing, education etc.
