The Director Health System Partnerships & Development will work with the Chief Partnership and other members of the executive team to further develop and enhance the scope of UCSF Health Network’s health system partnerships and affiliations. Activities will include leading strategic efforts supporting hospital affiliations and strategic relationships, including expansion of existing health system partnerships and affiliations.
The incumbent will possess a combination of technical knowledge and analytical ability with strong interpersonal skills to support and manage sensitive, highly visible work with a key UCSF Health network partner. The incumbent will serve as UCSF Health’s lead in managing the affiliate relationships, developing, and executing the affiliation implementation plan, designing and overseeing new programs and services, convening stakeholders and driving towards key milestones, and coordinating with operational departments and services.
Relationship management includes working with key health system leaders and department chairs to advance affiliation objectives. Implementation planning includes identifying targeted service areas for growth, evaluating new business opportunities, defining resource needs, and developing pro forma, budgets and business plans. The incumbent will work closely with health system partners and affiliates to identify clinical needs, resolve issues and identify opportunities for future growth and development. The incumbent will support clinical leaders as they manage issues that arise from daily operations and will work collaboratively with UCSF on successful resolution. The role is accountable for planning and coordination of staffing, fiscal, and material resources.
This role contributes to long term strategy for business development, network development, and affiliation activities. The incumbent will have executive decision-making authority to address issues and opportunities in this inter-institutional relationship in a manner that acknowledges the strategic importance of this relationship in the UCSF Health network, reduces barriers, enhances opportunities for a more encompassing relationship, and continually frames this relationship within the context of UCSF Health’s strategic plan and mission.

The Director will be a member of UCSF Health’s Network and Market Development Teams which includes Business Development, Health Plan Contracting, Marketing and Communications, Community Physician Foundation, Community Hospital Division and other functions that support the UCSF Health’s Strategic Growth objectives.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training

Minimum of ten (10) years of health care experience servicing the academic medical center and health services/systems community (e.g., provider segments; strategic and business planning; market assessment; basic finance/budget principles)

3 to 5 years of project management experience

Proven full life cycle delivery of health care/system strategic plans inclusive of collaborating with key physician colleagues in the context of strategic initiative execution

Highly advanced written and verbal communication skills with an ability to distill complexity down to impactful simplicity, bringing disparate points into clear, linear narratives aimed at achieving specific objectives. Captivating storytelling skills and senior-level gravitas
