Job Description
The Austin Division Shop Manager will ensure that fleet vehicles are maintained in an effective and safety conscious manner. The Shop Manager will be in charge of an aggressive preventative maintenance repair program. This program will include the maintenance of ready-mix trucks, front-end loaders, and medium/heavy duty diesel trucks. This position’s central shop office is in south Austin.
Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited, to the following:

Improve the Company’s overall profitability by reducing vehicle maintenance expenses and downtime, monitoring and analyzing opportunities to cut costs and improving fleet maintenance efficiencies

Assist in developing best practices for the Fleet Maintenance Program

Ensure compliance with DOT Regulations, OSHA Regulations and Company Policies

Ensure timely completion of administrative paperwork

Communicate and provide support to the operations team regarding all equipment-related issues

Identify equipment that requires outside sources for repairs and monitor costs/progress

Ensure optimal shop responsibilities such as: maintaining inventory for parts, proper record keeping, processing purchase orders (POs), managing outside labor and repairs and handling warranty claims and the warranty return process

Managing team of In-House/Mobile Mechanics
Requirements

5+ years of experience in Medium/Heavy Duty Diesel Vehicle Maintenance

ASE Certification desired

Extensive knowledge of State and Federal laws governing over-the-road equipment and safety (DOT, OSHA, etc.)

Prior experience with heavy-duty equipment maintenance systems and safety programs
