Statement of Purpose: To provide the experience, knowledge and support for the medical personnel required by the residents for their health concerns and comfort. This position reports directly to the Director of Resident Services.

Some of the main responsibilities:
-
Assists with emergencies; evaluates and treats appropriately.
-
Handles calls such as 911, resident's physician or relatives.
-
Recommends Home Health Care when the resident requires assistance in his/her unit. This may also apply at times in the Health Care Center.

Assists the Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) as needed to prepare and send Resident updates daily or completes as needed.

Attends Health Care Committee care plan meetings and facility utilization meetings as scheduled.

Advice and counsel residents on medical/health issues.
-
Corresponds with family members, legal representatives, or physician when a resident displays behavior or health problems.
-
Elicits his/her involvement in making changes appropriate for treatment in the resident's behalf.
-
Assists in coordinating resident move to other facilities on and off campus when another level of care is necessary.

Accountable for all medical office expenditures.

Supervises and assists with monthly blood pressure clinics.
-
Visits individual apartments when appropriate.
-
Administers TB tests and Hepatitis B Vaccines for all employees and volunteers as needed.

Assists the director in maintaining and managing the EMT staff's schedule Bi-weekly.

Markets and supervises the Companion program.
-
Checks the status of discharged residents from the hospital within 24 hours upon return to the facility.
-
Assesses and arranges for necessary assistance to meet residents' needs.

Communicates with hospital staff on condition of hospitalized facility residents.
-
Reports to Health Care team and other staff members the potential return of the resident to the facility.
-
Maintains accurate resident files including initial and yearly profile updates.
-
Logs and notes incident reports.
-
Confers, when necessary, with outside agencies that are providing care for the resident.

Maintains and updates resident Profiles in the computerized database.
-
Attends all mandatory meetings and in-services.
-
Assists the Director of Resident / Health Services with the day-to-day operations.
-
Provides daily reports to Director to Resident/Health Services regarding resident status and staff issues and concerns.

Assists as needed for daily welfare checks of all residents.
-
Assists with in-put and performing yearly evaluations on EMT's as needed.
-
Works on-call every other week or as needed.

Maintains and secures under lock and key Vaccines, TB Test Kits, and Heb B medications.

Qualifications:
-
Must be able to lift-up to 50 lbs.
-
Must be able to perform C.P.R, first aid, and certified to draw labs.

Must be an L.P.N. or R.N. with a valid Arizona nursing license.

Possess a current Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card or can obtain is required.

Two years of experience working with seniors or related field.

Must maintain educational requirements and licenses necessary to perform in present capacity including CPR certification.
