About the Position
As a Mechanical Maintenance Manager, you will manage the maintenance of departmental mechanical equipment and maintenance projects, and ensure equipment operates in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner while minimizing downtime. The manager will lead, engage, motivate, and develop mechanical maintenance team members.
Main Responsibilities
- Coach, mentor, engage, develop, evaluate, and motivate team as well as ensure the team is efficient, productive, and their work quality is high
- Complete and stay current on all training and track and ensure all department members are current for all training per company and department requirements
- Maintain all department mechanical equipment - EAF, LMF, VTD, Casting, Cranes
- Continuously improve the preventative maintenance program
- Manage maintenance projects and critical spare parts
- Monitor and coach all outside contractors
- Conduct crew meetings, safety meetings, and contractor meetings
- Publish detailed maintenance outage plans in a timely manner
- Help manage and mentor apprentices and students
About You
- Minimum 5 years’ mechanical maintenance experience
- Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience and demonstrated leadership skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Extensive knowledge of steel making equipment–hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and cranes
- Strong understanding of production planning and maintenance systems
- Experience scheduling employees, equipment, projects, and outages
- Mid-level computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Good communication (verbal and written,) interpersonal, and teamwork skills
- Preferred:
- BS or MS degree in an engineering field
- Experience planning, scheduling and implementing a multi-day major maintenance outage using MS Project or similar
- Maintenance Connection or similar CMMS experience
