Job description:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Emergency Department Observation (ED Obs) team in Rochester, NY. As an ED Obs RN, you will play a crucial role in assessing, monitoring, and providing care to patients who require extended observation following their initial emergency department visit. This position requires strong clinical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Assessment and Monitoring:
- Conduct thorough initial assessments and ongoing monitoring of patients in the ED Obs unit.
- Monitor vital signs, evaluate symptoms, and assess patient conditions to ensure timely interventions.
- Recognize changes in patient status and collaborate with the healthcare team to adjust care plans accordingly.
- Care Planning and Implementation:
- Develop individualized care plans based on patient assessments and physician orders.
- Administer medications, perform treatments, and coordinate diagnostic tests as prescribed.
- Provide education to patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and post-discharge care instructions.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers to ensure they are informed and involved in the care process.
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and in a timely manner.
- Emergency Response and Crisis Management:
- Respond promptly to emergencies within the ED Obs unit, following established protocols and procedures.
- Maintain composure and prioritize patient safety during critical situations.
- Quality Improvement and Compliance:
- Adhere to regulatory standards, hospital policies, and nursing best practices.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
