AgReserves, Inc. is seeking a solution-oriented Realty Specialist [Land Management Associate] to join our regional Land group based at the AgriNorthwest farm office. The Realty Specialist is tasked with preserving and enhancing the land assets owned or managed by Farmland Reserve, Inc. (FRI) and other affiliated companies within an assigned area. This includes managing a variety of land use requests, ensuring compliance with environmental permits, interacting with government agencies, assisting with associated regulatory issues, and maintaining land records in a manner that will support the long-term value of real property.
Responsibilities:
- Administer and coordinate contract workflows and assigned third-party leases.
- Coordinate design, permitting, construction, land use, permit compliance, and construction management for agricultural and water-related capital improvements, including irrigation and drainage projects.
- Assist with farm water right management to maximize water availability for present and future agricultural and alternative uses.
- Develop and cultivate strong relationships with tenants and industry partners, as well as federal and state agency representatives, county commissioners, and county staff.
- Verify the land use contracts are in place and effectively managed.
- Ensure operational compliance with related laws, regulations, permits, agreements, and programs and represents property interest with regulatory agencies.
- Identify potential tenants, third-party users of properties, and other alternatives to generate revenue consistent with the company’s mission and interests.
- Participate in regional planning activities and other land management initiatives, projects, and transactions.
- Maintain and renew permits for farm operations including from water management districts and Army Corps of Engineers.
- Monitor and positively influence developments in environmental and land use regulations and planning initiatives.
- Provide initial review and suggest edits to contracts, then negotiate and coordinate review by corporate-appointed legal counsel.
- Provides management with timely and complete reports.
- Train production staff in permit compliance and reporting systems.
- Address legal issues affecting properties within the region alongside local management and legal counsel.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, agriculture, or business will consider advanced degrees in law, business, agriculture, real estate, property management, or related field if candidate possesses significant experience with regulatory and legal issues.
- 3+ years relevant experience in property management, agriculture, real estate, law, and/or regulatory compliance to include experience in contract drafting, management and negotiation, and drafting.
- Experience in real estate transactions and/or land and natural resource legal issues preferred.
- Strong project management, leadership, and relationship management skills.
- Adept computer skills with proficiency in MS Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint).
- Advanced interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
- Demonstrated high moral character, honesty, and creativity.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license with ability to travel 25% to locations including remote areas with limited infrastructure and services.
- Able to traverse rough and uneven terrain in vehicle or on foot; walk and stand for at least 5 hours per day.
