We are looking for experienced educators who are enthusiastic about teaching afterschool programs in hands-on sewing and fashion design.
Required:
Experienced educator and enthusiastic maker
Degrees in fashion design/ theater/ social sciences, and expertise in clothing construction
We are currently looking for one or two people to teach in Brooklyn and Manhattan.
Programs are 2-3 hours per day; We are building schedules for Fall 2024.
This is part-time school-year work but may expand to our online and summer programs.
The right candidate will confidently guide and teach young people creative sewing projects. We teach sewing and textile techniques, sustainability, and project-based learning.
Responsibilities
- Teach sewing techniques to students in an engaging and informative manner.
- Follow and modify lesson plans that cater to students' varying skill levels and interests.
- Manage classroom activities and ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Provide guidance and support to students as they work on sewing projects.
- Utilize relevant skills such as childcare experience and behavior management to effectively engage with students.
- Collaborate with school-based staff members in the positive environment of the afterschool program.
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $35.00 - $50.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 2 per week
