The Maintenance Technician Lead will perform maintenance and facilities duties and assign tasks to the maintenance technicians for the day-to-day operations of the Maintenance Department. Responsibilities include but are not limited to; scheduling Preventive Maintenance activities, coordinating outside contractors and vendors, equipment maintenance and repair, maintaining site utilities, etc.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in a relevant field and 7+ years proven experience as a Maintenance Tech or similar role.
- Prefer experience leading a maintenance and facilities team.
- 7+ years’ experience with general maintenance procedures and techniques, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and other mechanical systems.
- 3-5 years’ experience in repair work in one or more fields of welding, pipefitting, carpentry, and masonry work.
- 3-5 years’ experience installing plant equipment, performing equipment and instrument calibrations, and maintaining a Preventative Maintenance System.
- 3-5 years’ experience in Calibrations.
TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and regulations and will work safely by adhering to all policies, procedures and training and use of company-provided resources.
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical systems, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems.
- Advanced knowledge of utility services including; Boiler, compressed air, plumbing, purified water, HVAC, dust collection, etc.
- Ability to coordinate and planning of services of vendors and contractors as well as negotiate contracts.
- Problem solving and root cause analysis skills.
- Skills supporting IQ/OQ/PQ activities.
- Experience working with CMMS software.
- Inventory controls for maintenance materials / spare parts.
- Experience with Preventive Maintenance and Calibrations programs.
- Ability to operate office equipment, including computers and supporting word processing, spreadsheet, and data base applications.
- Ability to perform job with minimum direction for routine functions, and acts from oral or written instructions.
- Experience overseeing Calibrations Program.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reviews and work orders, pm’s, and calibrations daily to determine work load priorities and assign to maintenance staff.
- Performs equipment, utilities and facility related investigations.
- Performs and/or assist in IQ/OQ/PQ activities.
- Drives the continuous improvement of the maintenance department related to cost reduction.
- Ensure departmental compliance with all Quality, Environmental, Health, and Safety programs.
- Oversee/approve the purchase of services and repairs for the facility.
- Oversee and manage the materials and spare parts inventories as they pertain to the maintenance of facility equipment.
- Oversee/manage all plant utilities including: boiler/steam, compressed air, power distribution, purified water, HVAC, dust collection, plumbing, etc.
- Review maintenance SOPs and ensure all procedures are up to date.
- Coordinate tasks from the preventive maintenance and calibration programs.
- Ensure maintenance complies with SOPs and follows Good Documentation Practices.
- Maintains replacement parts inventory and maintenance supplies.
- Maintains files of vendors, suppliers and equipment service records.
- Supports the Senior Maintenance Manager in performing all maintenance duties to equipment and facilities at the site.
- Ensure various periodic safety inspections such as fire extinguishers, fire sprinkles systems, fire doors, emergency lights, eye was stations and similar safety devices are completed.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager on annual maintenance budget.
- Responsible to support the Pest Control Program.
- Problem solving and root cause analysis skills.
- Train maintenance technicians on performing tasks as needed.
