Under the general direction of the CRPA Training and Shooting Sports Director, incumbent serves as a Range and Training Field Representative for the California Rifle and Pistol Association (CRPA). Incumbent’s focus is on building and maintaining relationships with shooting ranges and clubs, promotion of CRPA programs and services, and being a field trainer to train volunteers all across the state and in the Fullerton CRPA training center.
Incumbent must clearly understand and support the mission, goals, and objectives of the CRPA and must possess a passion for supporting the Second Amendment and firearms-related issues. Incumbent must possess a strong knowledge of shooting sports, firearms, and hunting activities, up to date legislation and litigation, current programs, (training will also be provided in order to obtain this knowledge). Incumbent will also be able to become a trainer to train others and must be able to fly and travel as needed. Weekends are part of this position and are expected when there is an event or training class that needs attention.
Communication and marketing skills are critical to this position. If you are not outgoing and a "people person" do not apply for this position. We are looking for a go-getter that can join our team.
Incumbent must be able to be persuasive both orally and in writing. Incumbent is responsible for promoting the programs and services of the CRPA, representing the CRPA in outreach activities, and is required to build positive relationships and maintain high visibility with the public, CRPA members, affiliated clubs, trainers, students, and volunteers.
Incumbent must possess a high degree of integrity and professionalism and be self-motivated to work toward goals and objectives established by the CRPA and direct supervisor. This position requires frequent travel locally and long distance at times, involves working days, sometimes unusual hours, evenings, and weekends. Incumbent may be away from home on CRPA business for multiple days at a time. In addition, incumbent must dress professionally and present a professional demeanor at all times. Presentations to groups will eventually be part of this position so understanding of mission of CRPA and Second Amendment issues in California is a plus.
Incumbent will:
· Develop and maintain contacts with potential and current shooting ranges to provide training on recruitment efforts and supplies of CRPA materials and membership information.
· Provide incentives for ranges to join the CRPA Range Coalition and participate in CRPA activities
· Communicate with supervisor and other managers news from the field that is learned in travels and meetings.
· Help to develop the training curriculum and programs.
· Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the CRPA staff, CRPA members, affiliated clubs, students, volunteers, and the public;
· Coordinate on a regular basis with internal staff to establish regularly scheduled meetings with groups and the public.
· Stay up-to-date on news, events, and issues impacting the interests of the CRPA;
· Make recommendations to direct supervisor regarding membership and affiliate club recruitment initiatives and CRPA outreach efforts;
· Properly maintain and care for assigned CRPA equipment, including an assigned vehicle;
· Develop with supervisors and managers strategies to achieve established CRPA objectives and priorities;
· Plan, organize, and manage work within time constraints (time management);
· Read, understand, and apply codes, regulations, and legislative updates applicable to firearms and hunting activities;
· Operate a company phone and computer to maintain records, prepare reports and correspondence, and send and answer email;
· Maintain and timely file accurate and complete workload and expense records as required;
- Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications.
Perform all other tasks as assigned by a supervisor.
Education - An A.A., A.S., or higher degree in public relations, communications, political science, business or public administration, criminal justice or a related field is a must. A B.A. or B. S. in one of these fields is desired. Experience in regional sales and marketing will be considered as well.
Required Conditions Of Employment: Incumbent must have the ability to:
· Regularly work days, evenings, unusual hours, and weekends, overnight trips required at times. Schedules will be determined by supervisor and based on the needs of the organization;
· Travel for CRPA business purposes and must be comfortable and accountable enough to travel routes without direct supervision. Must have valid driver's license and proof of current insurance. Some travel may be by air and person in this position must be able and willing to fly when necessary;
