Physical Education Teacher
Job Summary
The Physical Education Teacher is responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring the Physical Education program. The teacher will work with students in K-12 settings to develop and maintain a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping students learn the physical skills necessary for success in life. The successful candidate will have knowledge of the importance of physical activity and the need for safe environments. The ideal candidate will be passionate about helping students achieve their educational goals and be willing to work hard to promote a culture of learning.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement a physical education program that is appropriate for all students in grades K-12
- Design and implement activities that promote the development of physical skills such as running, walking, climbing, balancing on feet, etc.
- Create lesson plans based on curriculum using teaching tools such as the Blackboard Learning Network (LLN) or other tools that are aligned with standards
- Maintain records of student progress and activities including but not limited to test scores, GPAs, etc.
- Ensure that students are learning about health and safety by participating in games that involve risk-taking such as jumping into kiddie pools or playing in the mud with children who are not able to do so safely
- Provide positive guidance to parents regarding their child’s progress and concerns if the child is enrolled in the program
- Develop professional relationships with parents, teachers, school administrators, etc.
- Attend professional development opportunities such as conferences and workshops as required.
Experience preferred:
Knowledge of health and safety guidelines for children including CPR/First Aid training or desire to learn. (Preferred)
- Knowledge of state requirements (e.g., CO TDR Rules) or ability to follow state requirements. (Preferred)
- Knowledge of health/safety guidelines for children under the age of 6 years old. (Preferred)
