CLAYS is a CARF accredited Outpatient Mental Health Clinic (OMHC) in Prince Georges County, Maryland. CLAYS provides Diagnostic Assessments, Substance Abuse Assessments, Individual and Group Therapy, Medication Management, Case Management, Sex Offenders services, Ex-Offender services and Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program Services (PRP). We serve adults, adolescents and children with a wide range of behavioral health needs. We assist our clients with life challenges, relationship issues and behavioral health issues.
Changing Lives Adult & Youth Service is seeking a Rehabilitation Specialist who is licensed as a LPC, LCPC, LCSWC, LCSW or LMSW and who has management, supervisory and leadership skills. The Rehabilitation Specialist will provide supervision and oversight for the daily program of rehabilitation services to children, adolescents and adults Monday through Friday at the office, home and communities of Prince George County.
Summary of Position Responsibilities
Responsible for overseeing and developing the Direct Care staff including assisting with hiring, supervision, evaluation and scheduling. Develops the Individual Rehabilitation Treatment Plans (IRTP) for clients in PRP program and implement strategies for program continuation and growth. This position must have a positive and supportive attitude toward the agency and its overall success. Must have the ability to solve problems, have good decision-making skills, good writing skills and critical thinking skills.
Essential Duties
- Advise the clinical director regarding development and implementation of rehabilitation services that reflect the need of the minors served by the program
- Developing and assuring that rehabilitation services meet the needs of the individuals served by the program
- Shall educate direct care staff on how to document the correlation between rehabilitation activities and the goals identified in the Individual Rehabilitation Treatment Plans (IRTP)
- Provide input to the Clinical Director on the direct care staff job performance
- Perform/participate in any other needs of the program that is within the scope of the Rehabilitation Specialist
- Ensures that all required medical documentation is generated and appropriate through quality assurance audits
- Ensures that all medical documentation and sensitive, confidential information is stored appropriately and secure
- Participates in on-call service for clients
- Assists and supports the Direct Care Staff as needed
- Complete Rehabilitation Assessments within 14 calendar days of initial PRP service.
- Complete Individual Rehabilitation Plans within 30 calendar days of Initial PRP services.
- Ensure each client has a signed copy of their rehabilitation plan, if client is unwilling to sign plan contact Program Director for COMAR regulations.
- Ensure a resource booklet is kept up today for rehabilitation and family activity use.
- Ensures that all consents, assessments and plans are completed within the appropriate time-frame
- Ensures that the required documentation is completed by the direct care staff and contains the required information per regulation (ie. Contact notes, progress notes, monthly summary notes).
- Reviews Direct Care Staff case loads and reviews notes to ensure following rehabilitation goals and treatment days.
- Coordinate with other mental health services client may be receiving.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct supervision of direct care staff- (One supervision per month for each Direct Care Staff)
- Participates in performance evaluations for direct care staff
- Obtain Case Notes in a timely fashion for payroll.

REQUIREMENTS and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Required hours for Rehabilitation Specialist: 40 hours per week
- Is a licensed mental health professional with a minimum of 2 years direct care experience working with emotionally disturbed youth
- Must have CPR and First Aid
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- English (required) Spanish (Preferred)
- Excellent intrapersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with individuals (clients and staff) of all ages, cultural background, educational and work experience
- Must speak the English language fluently
REASONING ABILITY
Must have the ability to strategically, logically and realistically analyze, evaluate and develop solutions to situations. Must be able to consider all affected areas when determining solutions to issues that will be most beneficial to the client.
