Responsibilities:
● Payroll Processing: Process employee payroll on a regular schedule, typically bi-weekly or semi-monthly, ensuring that all hours worked, overtime, bonuses, and deductions are accurately calculated and reflected in the payroll system. At least 2 years of experience.
● Timekeeping Management: Oversee and review employee timekeeping records to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and relevant labor laws.
● Benefits Administration: Collaborate with HR and benefits teams to manage and update employee benefits data related to payroll, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and other voluntary deductions.
● Tax Compliance: Ensure accurate calculation and timely remittance of payroll taxes, including federal, state, and local income taxes, Social Security, Medicare, and other applicable deductions.
● Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and organized payroll records, including earnings, deductions, and changes to employee information. Keep payroll data confidential and secure.
● Payroll Reconciliation: Conduct regular payroll audits and reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies or errors promptly.
● New Hire Onboarding and Terminations: Process payroll information for new hires and ensure proper payroll procedures are followed for employee terminations.
● Reporting and Analysis: Prepare payroll-related reports for management, finance, and HR teams, providing insights into labor costs and budgeting.
● Compliance and Regulation: Stay up-to-date with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations, ensuring payroll processes align with legal requirements.
● Communication: Provide excellent customer service to employees regarding payroll inquiries, resolving issues, and addressing concerns in a professional and timely manner.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
● Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or in a similar role, demonstrating strong understanding of payroll processing and tax compliance.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
● Ability to handle confidential information discreetly and maintain data security.
● Knowledge of relevant labor laws and regulations.
● Ability to multi-task with attention to details and a high level of accuracy
● Advanced level of proficiency in HRIS (Human Resources Information System) and timekeeping systems such as ADP Workforce Now and MS Excel
● Ability to adapt in a rapidly changing, fast-paced and start-up environment where a high degree of flexibility is required
● Certification such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is a plus.
