Summary of Position: WIHD is currently recruiting for a full time Family Engagement Facilitator to join their CSN team at WIHD. This position is hybrid and will be located at home, at in-person district meetings and at WIHD's office in Valhalla, NY.
The Family Engagement Facilitator (FEF) will serve as project coordinator for respective teams and collaborate in providing high quality, coordinated services to all constituents with the goal of improving outcomes for children with disabilities. Coordinating with a network of regional and NYS professionals, the FEF will provide training and support to a wide variety of stakeholders of the disability community, including individuals and families, early childhood program or school staff, and professionals.
The CSN is home to all three of the Hudson Valley’s Early Childhood and School-age Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Centers funded through NYSED’s Office of Special Education’s Educational Partnership. Our work focuses on empowering schools, families and communities to improve equity, access, opportunities and outcomes for all students with disabilities.
Some Essential Functions Include:
- Using a systematized process approved by NYSED, provide:
- Serve as a member of the Regional Learning Team in collaboration with stakeholders and community partners working in concert to plan, facilitate and conduct regional support plans, trainings, learning plans and coaching sessions;
- Collaborate with the Regional Partnership Center to conduct a needs assessment with identified Educational Organizations to determine specialist deployment, and to better understand the systems change required within that district;
- Take initiative by analyzing, developing and implement training for professionals and families/community members as member of the CSN and other community teams to ensure integrated, efficient, and effective delivery of services.
Qualifications:
Kind and Length of Experience: 3 years minimum Experience/5 years preferred in Education; Knowledge of special education process and regulations; Familiarity and comfort with technology and MS Office applications;
Experience with: Expertise in delivering professional development and technical assistance in early childhood, K12, and/or special education; Experience collaborating effectively with diverse community stakeholders;
Education Level: Master’s Degree in Science to include Education, Social Work or Psychology or Bachelors plus 5+ years’ experience in Special Education and Professional Development;
Travel Requirements: Ability to travel independently throughout the Hudson Valley region of Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Sullivan, Ulster, Dutchess and Orange counties, as well to Albany for meetings at least three times a year, as well carry and transport training materials and equipment;
Language Requirements: English/Spanish Fluency is preferred;
Professional Development: 20 hours of professional development as determined by the onboarding needs assessment.
