The Role
Under general direction, the Nurse Supervisor is responsible for the management of the nursing services of the agency's program in accordance with NYS and federal law and regulation. Management responsibilities include the direct supervision of nursing and medical support staff and coordination of client medical care to ensure the delivery of timely and appropriate medical services. Collaborates with the multidisciplinary care team to provide a safe and comfortable medically supervised process. Provides in-service orientation, training and competency evaluation to agency nursing staff and medical support staff. This work is carried out in support of the mission and goals of Samaritan Daytop Village
What You Will Do
- Develop nursing and medical support staff schedules.
- Monitor completion of medical support and nursing staff assignments, identify lags in the daily flow and intervene as necessary to improve efficiency; Maintain and/or improve levels of productivity set by administration and the needs of patients.
- Supervise care provided by nursing staff to ensure current competency and best practice standards.
- Conduct orientation for new nursing and medical support staff and provide in-service training as needed.
- Provide medication administration training and competency evaluation for required staff.
- Provide training and competency evaluation for CLIA-waived tests for required staff.
- Manages large inventory of controlled substances accurately.
- Completes daily and monthly regulatory reporting.
- Maintain inventories of methadone, stock items and order supply and medication as indicated.
- Assist physicians by identifying, reporting and addressing changes in the client’s health status.
- Communicate daily with clinical staff to identify client needs so that they can be incorporated into the daily work schedule.
- Provide “on-call” coverage as required and assign other nursing staff to the “on-call” schedule to ensure 24-hour coverage.
Who You Will Be
- NYS RN licensure
- BLS certification
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing with an Associate's Degree in Nursing
- At least Five (5) years of nursing supervisory experience with a minimum of which, must include 3 years of hospital, substance use or other behavior healthcare supervisory nursing experience
- Proficiency in Phlebotomy and EKG
- Possession of strong time management, writing and communication skills
- Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills; ability to supervise, coach, mentor, develop, train and teach nurses/other clinical discipline providers
- Available to work a flexible schedule and be to work all shifts as needed in response to program and staff needs
- Computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHR
- Strong leadership and effective management skills
- Ability to implement and monitor policy and procedure in accordance with agency guidelines
- Working knowledge of federal, state and local law and regulation governing substance use treatment programs
- Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds
