Title: Assistant Teacher: Preschool
Job Description: To plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a pre-school learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.

Planning and supervising a warm, nurturing developmentally appropriate environment.

Understanding of child development goals.

Implements the program’s high level of care and educational standards.

Supporting the program’s philosophy and school readiness goals.

Aid in the designing and maintaining of a classroom environment that facilitates active, hands-on learning, group management, self-expression and choice, cultural diversity and inclusion of all children, parents and volunteers.

Effectively communicate and coordinate with the lead teacher in order to assist in daily lesson plans.

Provide individual assistance to children in small groups to ensure an understanding of concepts.

Provide additional assistance to students who have special needs.
-
Participate in planning and curriculum development meetings.
Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma or an Associates preferably in early childhood education. A minimum of one years working with 3–5-year-olds. Candidates should possess knowledge and understanding of child development, developmentally appropriate teaching strategies, and art integration experience inside of the classroom.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work well with parents and professional peers, leadership skills, and supervision skills.

Commitment to an equitable and inclusive approach when working with children, families and staff.

Knowledge of Head Start performance standards and DOH regulations, bilingual a plus, computer literate
