Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse - Intermediate Care
Job Summary:
As a Registered Nurse in the Intermediate Care unit, you will be responsible for providing specialized nursing care to patients who require a higher level of monitoring and intervention than general medical-surgical patients, but who do not require intensive care unit (ICU) services. You will work closely with a team of healthcare professionals to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assess and monitor the condition of patients in the Intermediate Care unit
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to develop and implement patient care plans
- Monitor vital signs and perform specialized procedures as needed
- Educate patients and their families about their medical condition and treatment options
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
- Respond to emergencies and provide timely and appropriate interventions
- Ensure adherence to hospital policies and procedures
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and interdisciplinary team meetings
Qualifications and Skills:
- Active RN license in the state of practice
- BLS and ACLS certification
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in a critical care or intermediate care setting
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- BSN preferred, but not required
