Primary Purpose:
- Responsible for maintaining the resources of the Grounds Department to develop school grounds in a condition of operating excellence, appearance and safety, so that educational use of the facilities can be obtained.
- Make daily grounds maintenance assignments in accordance with agronomic/turf management plan.
- Ability to perform and/or manage multiple tasks, projects and priorities.
- Instruct and/or train Grounds Department employees regarding preventive maintenance, and the proper cleaning of and safe operation of equipment.
- Prioritize equipment repair and maintenance work.
- Perform and supervise pesticide and fertilizer applications
- Strong attention to detail, passion for excellence and a great attitude
- Assume all responsibilities of the “Grounds IPM Coordinator”, insuring that all applicable laws and district policies governing the use of Pesticides on School Property are enforced, documented, and submitted to the “District IPM Coordinator” within the designated time frames.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Ability to read and understand English
- High school diploma or GED
- Preferred two or four year degree in one of the following: Turf grass Management, Landscape Management, Horticulture or Agronomy
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
- School IPM Coordinator Training
- Hold or obtain a TDA Non Commercial Pesticide Applicators License with Category 3A for Plant Pests and Herbicides and provide training and certification for district applicators per TDA requirements for use of Pesticides on School Property
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to organize, coordinate and supervise work of skilled personnel
- Management, communication and leadership
- Working knowledge of herbaceous plants, shrubs, turf and turf equipment, mowing technics, cultivating, pruning, spraying
- Irrigation repair and scheduling
- Diagnosis and treatment of turf stress related issues
- Ensuring proper pesticide/fertilizer application and calibration
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Experience:
Five years in a related field
Pay Grade: AP PG 1
Starting Salary: $52,320 / 240 days
