What you bring to the role:
Requires knowledge of equipment such as plastic materials/plastic fittings/polymers. Knowledge of welding procedures highly favorable. Awareness of welding procedures and relevant API, ASTM, ASME, PHMSA regs and codes.
What you do in the role:
- · Apply knowledge of welding procedures including PQR, WPS and general welding standards.
- Coordinate meetings with Responsible Person (RP) and facilitate meetings to review work progress
- Apply industry standards knowledge specific to materials required by utilities. Knowledge of ASTM standards.
- Gather data, perform calculations and prepare designs to develop technically sound findings, conclusions and recommendations.
- Understanding of systematic/scientific approaches to problem solving, and the ability to apply them in daily operations. Apply engineering/technical principles to analyze and resolve problems.
- Ability to use Office application. Knowledge of spreadsheets and database analysis tools.
- Must possess the ability to effectively interact with various departments to maintain open lines of communication. Must clearly and concisely communicate technical and non-technical information and concepts with various levels of management in both formal and informal settings.
- · Collaborates with appropriate production and process staff to understand the material specifications sought for a particular application or product.
· Identifies, selects, and recommends materials based on weight, strength, heat and cold tolerance, cost, and durability.
· Measures performance of various materials in accordance with specifications.
· Lab testing- plastometer melt index, low ductile inner wall (LDIW) testing, oxidating temperature testing (OIT) testing
Must-have:
Degree in materials or with materials emphasis.
· Bachelors degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering highly preferred;
· 7+ years of experience. At least five years of experience using composite materials either as a materials engineer or a process engineer. Must have knowledge of welding procedures.
