General Position Summary:
The candidate chosen will join our fast-paced, dynamic environment with opportunities to interact internally with colleagues cross sites as well as externally with clients. The chosen candidate has strong work ethics to complete tasks independently and on time. The chosen candidate is expected to take initiative to seek collaborations/guidance when undertaking unfamiliar challenges, and to communicate effectively with all team members.
Essential Job Functions:
Through adequate training, the Process Application Engineer will:
- Use DISCO equipment to prototype, optimize, and troubleshoot precision processes in the areas device singulation. Characterize processing results. Draw statistical conclusions based on processing data. Deliver singulation unit processes that can be integrated into semiconductor fabrication process flows.
- Design and perform singulation experiments for myriad materials systems based on input from DISCO’s clients, such as, semiconductor wafers, electronic packages, or medical device components. Understand DISCO equipment instrumentations during processing. Concisely summarize and analyze results, and compile technical documentation reports
- Troubleshoot complex challenges with limited supervision. Perform Root Cause Analyses to achieve fundamental understanding on defects, resulting in innovative solutions.
- Generate technical reports, process documentations, operating procedures, and high-level summary presentations to the management
- Become a reliable consulting resource for customers. Interact with customers to understand overall fabrication integration, process control methodologies, and gain insights to product roadmaps
- Prototype new equipment hardware or software components for internal learning
- Participate and contribute to DISCO corporate activities focusing on deeper thinking, value exchange, and constant improvement
- Perform additional tasks as assigned
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- At times may need to perform dexterous manual adjustments on processing equipment, or, handling and inspection of fragile products.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, physical sciences, or industrial operations
- General computer programming. Proficiency with Windows PC
- Business communication. Technical writing and presentation skills
Desired Skills:
- Materials science; solid state physics; semiconductor wafer fab processing experience
- Optics and optical components; solid state lasers
- Statistical Process Control; Design of Experiments; Six-Sigma analyses
- High-level software/programming knowledge; C/C++/C#; SQL/Python; CAD
- Candidate must be strong team contributor. Build team consensus, prioritize team’s expectations and needs
- Candidate is motivated to lead peers in a cross-matrix fashion on projects of technical development and/or internal efficiency improvements
- Candidate must demonstrate clear, concise, business communication skills, and be personable even under high-pressure environment
- Candidate is expected to build upon DISCO’s culture, a camaraderie across social / cultural / geological differences, to help build an inclusive work environment
- Business Japanese is plus
