Overview
ERISA Recovery, a frontrunner in the Federal ERISA appeals process for collecting complex and aged claims, seeks a proactive VA Specialist to help spearhead our VA Department. This leadership role is central to contacting hospitals and insurance companies to address and remediate denials, securing payments on claims previously considered lost. This position will be pivotal in harnessing Business Intelligence Insights to establish, manage, and refine performance goals for the department, ensuring these goals align with the company's strategic growth objectives. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the collection of outstanding medical bills from veterans and Veterans Affairs.
- Review and process medical claims, ensuring accuracy and compliance with VA standards.
- Communicate with veterans and VA representatives to resolve billing issues and disputes.
- Maintain accurate records of all collection activities and transactions related to Veterans Affairs.
- Follow up on unpaid accounts and negotiate payment plans when necessary.
- Collaborate with management to ensure accurate billing and coding in accordance with VA regulations.
- Provide regular reports on collection activities and account statuses to management.
- Handle confidential information with the highest level of integrity and professionalism.
- Perform other administrative tasks as needed to support the Medical Collections Department.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
- 5+ years of acute care experience.
- 5+ years of management experience, with a demonstrated ability to develop and execute performance goals.
- Expertise in data analysis for performance management and operational enhancement.
- Exceptional leadership, team management, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with the capability to oversee multiple projects and issues simultaneously, ensuring accurate and timely completion.
- Proficient in MS Office suites, Electronic Health Record systems, and Insurance Claims Portals.
- A comprehensive understanding of hospital claims denials, medical terminology, CPT codes, modifiers, diagnosis codes, and payor contracts.
