PRIMARY FUNCTION
Provide special education students with appropriate learning activities and experiences based on goals and objectives identified in the student's IEP. Develop or modify curriculum and prepare lessons and other instructional materials according to students’ ability levels. Work in self-contained, team, departmental, or itinerant capacity as assigned
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Use strategies and activities to increase student performance in content area and on standardized testing Present subject matter in accordance with the guidelines established by TEA, board policies, and administrative regulations Use appropriate instructional strategies, best practices, activities, materials, and equipment for assigned students as well as improve study methods and habits Work cooperatively with teachers to modify curriculum as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in IEPs Assess student achievement through formal and informal testing Demonstrate professional, responsible, and ethical behavior Participate in district and campus staff development and faculty meetings. Demonstrate interest in and initiative toward continued professional development Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, facility members, and community members Manage student behaviors in accordance with board policies, IEPs, BIPs, administrative regulations, facility behavioral programs, and the student code of conduct Remain informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for teachers Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records and other documentation as required Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree from accredited university.
- Valid Texas teaching certificate
- Special education certificate
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Knowledge of special needs of students in assigned area.
- Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee process and IEP goal setting process and implementation.
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
- Consultation skills and collaboration skills
- Ability to manage behaviors
- At least 1 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $52,520.00 - $72,000.00 per year
