The Restaurant Server will serve all guests in our Upscale Chophouse while striving to exceed any and all of the guests’ expectations.
- *ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Present menu, answer questions, and make suggestions regarding food and service
- Write out order on check
- Relay order to kitchen
- Serve all guests using the proper serving habits from kitchen and service bars
- Garnishes and decorates dishes preparatory to serving
- Serves guests from chafing dish at table
- Ladles soup, tosses salads, portions pies and desserts, brews coffee, and performs other services as determined necessary
- Observe diners to respond to any additional requests and to determine when meal has been completed
- Totals bill and accepts payment or refers guests to cashier
- Clear all dinnerware used and return it to dish washing area for cleaning
- Cleans and resets counters or tables at conclusion of each course
- Responsible for all service areas, refilling condiments, salt and peppers, coffee stations, etc.
- Must become knowledgeable about the park and all related information pertinent to job
- Must be able to carry trays weighing approximately 25 lbs.
- Interact with the public with a cheerful and positive attitude, solve guest problems and complaints in a proper manner, and maintain harmonious working relationships with fellow employees
- Experience: Previous experience in upscale dining or fine dining environments is preferred. Knowledge of fine dining service standards, including tableside etiquette and wine service, is highly valued.
- Customer Service Skills: Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to provide a high level of customer service are crucial. Servers should be able to anticipate guest needs, make recommendations, and ensure a memorable dining experience.
- Menu Knowledge: A comprehensive understanding of the menu, including ingredients, preparation methods, and any special dietary considerations, is essential. This enables servers to answer guest questions accurately and make informed recommendations.
- Attention to Detail: Fine dining service requires meticulous attention to detail in table settings, presentation of food and beverages, and overall guest experience. Servers should maintain a polished appearance and professional demeanor at all times.
- Teamwork: The ability to work collaboratively with kitchen staff, bartenders, and other servers to ensure smooth service is important. This includes effective communication and coordination to deliver a seamless dining experience.
- Adaptability: Fine dining environments can be fast-paced and dynamic. Servers should demonstrate flexibility and the ability to handle stressful situations calmly and efficiently.
- Beverage Knowledge: Familiarity with wines, spirits, and cocktail preparation is beneficial. Servers may be required to make recommendations, describe flavor profiles, and suggest pairings with food.
- Safety and Hygiene: Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices is essential to maintain a safe dining environment for guests and adhere to health regulations.
- Responsible Alcohol Service: Depending on the establishment, servers may need certification in responsible alcohol service (e.g., TIPS certification in the US) to serve alcoholic beverages responsibly.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
