The University of Houston Andy and Barbara Gessner College of Nursing is seeking an outstanding candidate for a Research Professor, at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Research Professor, with a clear commitment to enhance the research portfolio of faculty, graduate, and undergraduate student populations.
The Research Professor will support the research agenda for the Gessner College of Nursing. The anticipated start date for a qualified applicant for a 12-month Research promotional eligible non-tenure-track, benefits eligible faculty position begins as early as January 2024, the search will continue until the position is filled.

The Research Professor responsibilities include: Providing research mentorship of faculty and students, consulting on grant writing support, statistical methods, extramural and intramural grant proposals/awards. Supporting CON Faculty in grant development and submission, supporting CON Faculty in article publication preparation and submission, provide instruction, supports CON in its research partnerships including interprofessional research, college reports, facilitating and enhancing opportunities for faculty and students to successfully compete for financial support; some travel.
The Gessner College of Nursing is proud of its excellent BSN, MSN and DNP programs; innovative web-enhanced education; simulation laboratory; and supportive student environment for both face-to-face and distance learning. The nursing program received the only national award for Health Professions Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) award from INSIGHT into Diversity Magazine, seven out of the last eight years.
