Medical Laboratory Scientist / Medical Technologist / Clinical Laboratory Scientist
TUESDAY-SATURDAY 1:00-9:00 PM
Job Description:
- Tests lab specimens to ensure accurate and quality results for patients care.
- Recognize problems, identify the causes, and find solutions, even when no preset criteria are present.
- Confirm and verify results through an in-depth knowledge of quality control, testing techniques, instrumentation, and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
· Be familiar with and able to perform the position duties listed in the lab assistant, phlebotomist and accessioner job descriptions if necessary.
· Maintains and follows procedures for safety of self and others.
· Collects and prepares human samples for analysis. Stores and transports samples using appropriate preservation methods. Specimens may include blood, urine, sputum, feces, exudates, secretions, and other body fluids.
· Be familiar with all testing procedures in the procedure manuals for assigned testing. Know how to correctly perform each procedure.
· Operates, calibrates, conducts performance checks, and maintains any clinical instrument or equipment.
· Recognizes and corrects basic instrument malfunctions. Contact the manufacturer's technical service department for any piece of equipment, when needed.
· Follow procedures and manufacturer’s instructions for all testing.
· Conducts established quality control procedures on analytical tests, equipment, reagents, etc.; evaluates results of quality control & implements corrective action.
· Demonstrate a working knowledge of basic physiology and the ability to assess the accuracy of laboratory results using this knowledge in conjunction with the patient’s history.
· May provide training & supervision for students & new or less skilled personnel.
· Keeps lab manager informed of activities including unusual patient data or results, instrumentation problems, and public relation problems.
· Other duties, as assigned.
Required Skills:
Comfort with basic computer programs used in the lab such as LIS systems, spreadsheets, word processing, email.
Excellent customer service and communication skills, both written and spoken.
Humility, courage, and caring.

Pay: Up to $31.00 per hour
