The Burn Table Operator will be in charge of the CNC Burn Table and all duties within the Houston Fabrication shop that are plate burning related. Responsibilities include programming, nesting, loading, unloading, operating, and reporting results to the Management team. The burn table will be providing a service for the manufacturing, maintenance, and repair work on oilfield drilling equipment in a shop environment. This position will provide on-site support with manufacturing activities as determined by the RUY management team.
Detailed Description:
- Ensuring all machine/tools used in the assigned area are properly certified and calibrated as required and up to the task, preform daily cleanup of equipment
- Ensure safe and cleanly appearance of fabrication shop in the assigned section
- Meet and exceed company metrics including Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery
- Read and interpret drawings allowing manufacturing to build to the design intent
- Read and interpret Shop Work Orders
- Draw and program parts in nesting software with precision
- Provide expected delivery times to the Manager or Supervisor on all items being cut and prepared for the fabrication shop
- Ensure all Burn Table helpers and any personnel are performing all actions in accordance with Company standards to include safety, conduct, and proper use of company resources
- Identify training needs required in the Burn Table operations
- Promptly address and resolve concerns and disputes among team members, with the goal of building a stronger, more cohesive workgroup
- Choose and process materials with precision and identify raw materials as required by Work Orders or BOM.
- Label materials with Heat Numbers and Part Numbers following company procedures.
- Remove all sharp edges and burrs
- Properly and safely load and unload materials/parts using hoist, forklift, or by manual means.
- Transfer all finished parts to appropriate departments
- Properly store all raw materials in the designated areas
- All other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- Knowledge and experience in operating a CNC Oxy-Fuel and Plasma machine for burning plate
- Must understand how to read and follow fabrication drawings
- Strong computer skills within MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work on a task both alone and with workers as needed to assist in daily activities and delivery requirements
- Knowledge and familiarity with industry and quality standards (ISO, API, OSHA, AWS)
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to interact productively with co-workers and third parties
- Ability to trouble shoot and solve problems relating to the plate burning machine and process
- Understanding the fundamentals of Oxy-Fuel and Plasma cutting
- Ability to operate forklift after certification
- Ability to lead by example and be a good mentor to junior employees
- Ability to create a safe environment and respond to emergency situations
- Maintain a professional demeanor in all situations and with excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills and the ability to work effectively with executives, employees at all levels, and third parties
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to be resourceful and proactive in dealing with issues that may arise
- Lift and carry 50 pounds independently while walking on uneven surfaces
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and occasionally crawl during manufacturing in the shop and operational work areas
- Ability to operate hand tools such as grinders, hammers and more
- Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all designated times
- Stay alert and remain focused even during occasional extended work periods
- Demonstrate clear communication skills and ability to give, and follow directions promptly
- Must be willing to work extended schedules that will include working days; and occasionally nights, weekends and holidays and be on call after hours as needed
Must be able to occasionally operate Band Saw and Drill Press as a backup general operator

Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years relevant work experience, operating CNC Burn Tables
- 1+ years of experience in using a Cad/Cam software
- Must have experience with Cad/Cam software, Sigma Nest, Pro Nest or similar
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical training or advanced education in a relevant vocational field
