Job Duties may include:
- Insurance & Patient Billing •
- Meet & Greet everyone in a friendly helpful demeanor •
- Verify and pre-certify benefits for OB and surgery patients and obtain signatures
- Distribute letters, book and Medical City Admission Folders to new Ob patients
- Collect payments and post charges
- Transmit billing statements to patients electronically
- Transmit insurance claim forms via paper and electronic
- Work the Payorpath Claims reports for collections
- Transmit claims electronically
- Call and check status of claim payments
- Confirm adjustments before posting to patient accounts
- Distribute credits to current charges as patients check out to maintain open communication with patient before statements are sent
- Process accounts for appropriate refunds
- Answer ALL billing questions for patients and assist them as needed regarding insurance etc.
- Cover positions in the front office as needed (i.e. check in, check out, medical records, scheduling, etc.)
- Prepare surgical papers and consents for surgeries
- Assist with billing surgeries
- Refer problem patient accounts to physicians for clarification.
- Submit Claims electronically – Print claims to paper ONLY If not electronically able to send. Balance & perform daily computer close and make sure deposit is taken to the bank daily.
Skills:
- Proficient in medical records coding and terminology
- Knowledge of medical collection processes and procedures
- Familiarity with ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems
- Experience in medical billing and reimbursement practices
- Strong understanding of DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) coding
