The East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT) is a public Career and Technical Education District (CTED) providing tuition-free career and technical education (CTE) programs to high school students – public, charter, and home-schooled – and tuition-based programs to adults who reside in 11 school districts in the East Valley of the Phoenix metropolitan area. EVIT offers over 40 CTE programs at four centralized campuses. Centralized campus programs provide two to four hours of hands-on training every day and prepare students for professional certification and licensing exams. EVIT students who complete their training have a 98 percent high school graduation rate and 90 percent on average are in jobs related to their training, college or the military within a year. Two out of three EVIT students go on to college.
Applications are being accepted for the position of
Instructional Aide for the Veterinary Assisting programs with the East Valley Institute of Technology's
Power Road campus. The hourly rate range for this 10-month position is
$20.85 - $26.13 dependent upon preparation and like experience.
Job Summary:
Under general supervision the Instructional Aide will perform a variety of routine duties as needed to assist instructors in the delivery of instructional services and provide individual and group support to at-risk students
Essential Functions:
- Performs any combination of the following tasks in the classroom to assist the instructional staff:
- Discuss the assigned teaching area with the classroom instructor to coordinate instructional efforts.
- Plans, prepares and develops various teaching aids
- Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts; responds to basic student questions.
- Assists the instructors in enforcing classroom protocols, rules, and regulations.
- May review classroom/homework assignments for comprehension and/or completion; may proctor exams and grade examinations.
Skills and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of general classroom and lab practices, basic education principles, practices, and methodologies.
- Possesses good organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of modern office practices and procedures, including applicable computer operations and software, i.e., Microsoft Office Suites.
- Ability to establish and maintain an appropriate level of authority as well as create an atmosphere of support and confidence for students.
- Possesses effective written and verbal communication skills, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, parents students, and the general public.
- Ability to work independently and to manage work assignments in a highly interpersonal contact environment.
- Ability to deal effectively with stress caused by workload, deadlines, and situations as they occur.
- Must be tactful, have good interpersonal skills, and sound judgment.
Experience:
- Graduation from high school or equivalent;
Licensing /Certification and Other Requirements:
- Must obtain a valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance card.
- Proof of immunization against or immunity to measles and rubella if born after January 1 1957.
