Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Engineer to oversee the operation and maintenance. As the Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for managing the engineering department, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all vessel systems, and implementing maintenance and repair programs to ensure optimal vessel performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage and supervise the engineering department to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation
- Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance and repair programs for all vessel systems and equipment.
- Develop and maintain a detailed inventory of all equipment and spare parts, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained.
- Monitor vessel performance and recommend improvements to optimize performance and fuel efficiency.
- Ensure all engineering work is carried out in accordance with industry standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage the vessel's budget for the engineering department and oversee all purchasing and procurement activities.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Oversee the training and development of engineering staff, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out their roles effectively.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in a senior engineering role on a vessel, preferably as a Chief Engineer.
- A thorough understanding of marine engineering principles and practices.
- Strong leadership, management, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with industry regulations and compliance requirements.
- Proficient in the use of engineering software and other relevant tools.
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $140,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
