Position Summary
The Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) is seeking a knowledgeable and dynamic Senior Editor of Policy Affairs to join our award-winning editorial team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare policy, exceptional writing and editing skills, and the ability to translate complex policy issues into clear, engaging content. This role is crucial in keeping our members informed about the latest developments in healthcare policy and their implications for financial management within the healthcare sector.
Responsibilities
Policy Analysis

Monitor and analyze policy developments at federal, state and local levels, providing real-time updates and insights for HFMA members.

Collaborate with policy experts, industry leaders and other stakeholders to gather diverse perspectives and enhance content depth.

Work closely with internal HFMA resources to ensure cohesive and comprehensive coverage of policy issues.

Assist the Director in the development, creation, launch and ongoing production of a new e-subscriber-only newsletter product.
Content Creation

Contribute to the development and execution of HFMA’s content strategy, identifying key policy topics and trends to address in various formats.

Research, write and edit high-quality articles, reports and analyses on healthcare policy issues on a daily basis, including legislation, regulations and industry trends.

Oversee the publication process from conception to final delivery, ensuring accuracy, clarity and alignment with HFMA’s high editorial standards.

Review and proofread content for accuracy, coherence and adherence to HFMA’s style guide.

Support the growth of HFMA’s digital footprint by contributing to blogs, social media, webinars and other online platforms.
Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, Business or equivalent work experience.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in journalism, editing or policy analysis, preferably within the healthcare industry.

Strong understanding of healthcare policy and financial management.

Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills.

Ability to translate complex policy issues into accessible content.

Strong analytical and research capabilities.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Proficiency with digital content management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
