JOB TITLE: Instrument Controls Specialist
LOCATION: Muskegon, MI
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: Full Time, T - F 10 hr. days
POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE: Identify opportunities to improve processes (reduce variability, improve quality and productivity) and improve safety via the site’s control systems. Provide Instrument, Controls, and Engineering (ICE) support for engineering projects. Ability to work with industrial instrumentation, network communications, automation controls, (PLC, DCS, HMI) and electrical schematics.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Work closely with Electrical & Instrument (E&I) technicians to support troubleshooting initiatives to maintain production uptime.

Identify, scope out, and implement process improvement initiatives and projects as approved on an annual basis, providing installation, programming, controls expertise.

Coordinate the installation of hardware, software, and modifications by working with operations, engineering, and vendor personnel.

Supervise pre-commissioning and start-up of new or modified systems.

Ensure documentation of all control system modifications via the Control Change Request system.

Develop, implement and sustain applications providing visibility of the process floor and operation.

Perform troubleshooting of system hardware and software and obtain services of contract specialists when required.

Manage PM and calibration programs.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
-
Associates degree in Electrical Instrumentation/Electronics Technology, Electrical Apprenticeship Training or equivalent experience.

2 – 3 years Industrial Automation, Installation and Troubleshooting experience

Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs, plant electrical power systems and OT network systems.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Knowledge of DCS, VFDs, C-More HMIs, iFIX, and Ignition software preferred.
